Run For The Roses

Do you know what this weekend is? That's right.... It's Kentucky Derby Weekend! Where big hats and bow ties are the only thing to be worn! It is so easy to get the derby look without spending too much money!

I found some great Derby Hats on Etsy. One of them is featured in my "Derby Outfit". Once you find your hat, you can build your Derby Outfit around it. Because lets face it, it's all about the Hat! All you need is a spring time dress either solid in color or print to match. The dress can be short, long or a high low length. You pick! Then add your accessories! Throw in a cute bag, sandals and a little jewelry and you're ready for the races!

I was lucky enough to go to the Kentucky Derby last year. It was an experience. I wore a color block green and blue dress from Express, my hat was wide brim and straw from Forever 21, and I picked laced up sandals to match. In addition, I picked the winning horse last year, "I'll Have Another". Hopefully I am just as lucky this year. Wish Me Luck!

Also, don't forget a Mint Julip, because after all it is Kentucky and that means it's all about the Bourbon on Saturday!

It's That Time of Year

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
Yes, that time of year is approaching again! Summer Time or as I refer to it.... Bathing Suit Season. Time to hit the gym and shop for cute suits! A cute suit is great motivation to get into shape!!

The two suits I featured in my outfit creation today are two of my favorites. I love the fringe bathing suit. It just has so much personality. Another suite style I love is anchor print. Ahoy!

So, find that cute suit this season and have it motivate you!

How to Purchase that Expensive Look For Cheaper!

The Jackie O dress was created because designer Laurel Berman's blouse would not stay tucked into her pencil skirt. The dress presents the same pencil skirt/blouse silhouette but the Jackie O dress is just one piece of fabric instead of two. The dress also has a distinctive angled neckline and can be purchased in many different prints or solid colors. Only thing is the Jackie O dress is pretty pricey and if you are on a budget you may have to come up with an alternative to enjoy this look.

One of my girlfriends brought this dress to my attention and I immediately fell in love. When I started researching the dress and its retailers, I noticed the cost was about $350 or higher.

In the "Jackie O" ensemble I created there are two options for similar dresses and both are under $100. The red one shares the same silhouette as well as the angular neckline. The grey one has a "V" neckline and has ruffles below the waist if you would like some extra flair. Each look is stunning!

Now you are able to wear that high priced look for cheaper!

Enjoy!

What Type of Leather Skirt is Perfect for You?

Who out there owns a leather skirt? I don't but I really want one. While in Chicago I was trying to help one of my girlfriends find one (You know who you are :). She was on a mission and we did find many leather skirts in every store we went in. However, I soon learned it is hard to find the perfect leather skirt for you.

Wearing leather this way can be tricky. Especially in a skirt because you want it to be comfortable and not too tight. Also, I noticed many leather skirts out there are too poofy and that is never good. Poofy is for your Wedding Day or the Prom :)

That said, this blog post is dedicated to the perfect leather skirt. I showed some options on how to wear with different colored leather. So, if you don't have one yet... Good Luck & Have Fun With It!

I hope to find my cut soon :)

Can Your Rock the Leopard?

"Animal" Print
I know animal prints are nothing new but leopard print is everywhere it seems. People are rocking animal prints far from the Jersey Shore.

Today at work I saw the cutest outfit put together with leopard print. I wanted to spread the fashion and decided to blog about it. Leopard is great because you can pair so many different colors with it. The outfits I created are paired with purple and orange. Each one looking fabulously colorful and chic.

The one on the left can be found in my closet. However, the blouse, skirt and belt were bought at Express. It all depends what brand or designer you like. I can't wait to shop for a leopard skirt and purple top to pair with the blazer already in my closet.
